Netflix continues to expand its lineup of original shows, but some of the biggest titles on the platform are not new series at all. They are returning shows that already have an established audience and are coming back with another season.
From romance and fantasy to action, crime, political thrillers and animation, several popular Netflix series are scheduled to return in 2026, while others are expected in 2027 or later. Some already have confirmed release dates, while others have only been renewed and do not yet have a specific launch date.
This guide covers the Expected Returning Series Coming to Netflix in 2026 & Beyond, including their upcoming seasons, expected release windows and current status.
Note: Release schedules can change. An “expected” year does not always mean Netflix has announced an exact release date.

The Gentlemen Season 2
Release: September 2026
Status: Returning in 2026
The crime-comedy series The Gentlemen returns with a second season in September 2026. The series follows Eddie Horniman as he becomes increasingly involved in a criminal empire after unexpectedly inheriting a large estate.
The second season continues the show’s mixture of crime, dark comedy, action and complicated family relationships. Netflix’s September lineup confirms the new season as one of its returning series for the month.
The series has also been renewed for additional seasons, making it one of the Netflix titles expected to remain part of the platform’s longer-term lineup.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2
Expected release: September 2026
Status: Returning
The animated Stranger Things spin-off Tales From ’85 is also continuing with a second season in 2026.
The series expands the Stranger Things universe with an animated story set within the same broader world. Season 2 is part of Netflix’s September 2026 lineup.
For fans of the original franchise, the animated series provides another way to explore the supernatural world without directly continuing the main live-action story.
Fauda Season 5
Release: September 2026
Status: Returning
The Israeli action-drama Fauda is returning for Season 5. The series follows Doron Kavillio and his team through dangerous missions and conflicts.
The fifth season is part of Netflix’s September 2026 streaming lineup, continuing one of the platform’s established international action franchises.
Bridgerton Season 4
Expected release: 2026
Status: Returning
One of Netflix’s most recognizable romantic dramas is also returning with another season. Bridgerton continues its story of romance, family relationships and high society in Regency-era London.
Netflix’s 2026 lineup specifically includes Bridgerton among its major returning shows.
The series has also been renewed beyond Season 4, with Seasons 5 and 6 announced.
That means fans can expect the Bridgerton universe to remain an important part of Netflix’s long-term television schedule.
Netflix Returning Series Expected in 2027
Several major Netflix shows are already connected to 2027 or later. In these cases, it is important to separate an announced release window from a title that has simply been renewed.
One Piece Season 3
Expected release: 2027
Status: Confirmed
Netflix’s live-action One Piece is continuing with a third season.
The second season arrived in March 2026, and the story is expected to continue with Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as they move deeper into the world of the Grand Line. Season 3 is scheduled for 2027.
The upcoming season is expected to expand the story further into the Alabasta storyline, introducing additional characters and challenges for the Straw Hat Pirates.
Because the series is based on one of the world’s best-known manga and anime franchises, Season 3 is likely to be one of the major returning Netflix titles to watch during 2027.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2
Expected release: January 2027
Status: Confirmed
The animated action series Blue Eye Samurai is returning with Season 2 in January 2027.
The story follows Mizu, a skilled warrior on a personal quest for revenge. The first season ended with Mizu preparing to travel toward London, setting up a major change of location for the next chapter.
The second season is scheduled for January 2027, although an exact day was not announced in the latest update.
There is even more to look forward to because the series has already been renewed for a third and final season, currently planned for 2028.
Netflix Series Renewed for Seasons Beyond 2026
Not every returning show has a confirmed release date. Some have officially received another season but remain without a specific launch window.
These titles are still important when discussing expected returning Netflix series in 2026 and beyond.
Wednesday Season 3
Upcoming season: Season 3
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
Wednesday has been renewed for a third season.
The series follows Wednesday Addams and her experiences at Nevermore Academy. Its mix of dark comedy, mystery, fantasy and supernatural elements has made it one of Netflix’s major franchises.
Season 3 is confirmed, but viewers should treat the release date as TBA until Netflix announces an official schedule. Current renewal information lists the third season among the show’s future episodes.
3 Body Problem Season 2
Upcoming season: Season 2
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
The science-fiction drama 3 Body Problem is also returning.
The series is based on the internationally recognized science-fiction story and follows a group of scientists as they encounter a mystery that changes their understanding of humanity’s place in the universe.
Season 2 has been renewed, although an exact release date has not been established in the currently available schedule.
Because the story is built around a larger science-fiction narrative, future seasons have the opportunity to expand the world considerably.
The Gentlemen Season 3
Upcoming season: Season 3
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
The return of The Gentlemen does not stop with Season 2.
The series has been listed for Seasons 2 and 3, meaning Netflix is continuing the franchise beyond its 2026 return.
An exact Season 3 release date has not been announced, so it is better to describe the season as confirmed but undated rather than assigning an unsupported year.
Ginny & Georgia Season 4
Upcoming season: Season 4
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
Ginny & Georgia is another Netflix series continuing beyond its previous season.
The family drama focuses on Georgia Miller and her children while exploring relationships, family secrets and the challenges of starting over.
Season 4 has been renewed, but viewers should wait for an official release announcement before treating a particular date or year as confirmed.
The Night Agent Season 4
Upcoming season: Season 4
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
Netflix’s action-thriller The Night Agent is also returning.
The series follows Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent pulled into increasingly complicated national-security situations. Its combination of action, espionage and mystery has allowed it to develop into a continuing Netflix franchise.
Season 4 has been confirmed, although its release timing remains to be announced.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5
Upcoming season: Season 5
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
The Lincoln Lawyer will return for another season, with Season 5 announced as the final season.
The legal drama follows Mickey Haller, a Los Angeles defense attorney who often handles complicated cases while managing the challenges of his personal life.
Because Season 5 is expected to serve as the final chapter, future updates about its production and release date will be particularly important for viewers following the series.
All of Us Are Dead Season 2
Upcoming season: Season 2
Release: TBA
Status: Renewed
The Korean zombie thriller All of Us Are Dead is another returning Netflix title.
The series follows students trapped inside a high school during a zombie outbreak. Its first season left several storylines open, creating plenty of possibilities for the next chapter.
Season 2 has been renewed, although a confirmed release date has not yet been provided in the current schedule.
More Returning Netflix Series to Watch
The list of returning shows is much larger than the titles mentioned above. Netflix continues to renew series across different genres, including drama, comedy, romance, fantasy, action and animation.
Some of the notable future-returning titles include:
- Bridgerton – Seasons 5 and 6
- Wednesday – Season 3
- One Piece – Season 3
- 3 Body Problem – Season 2
- Blue Eye Samurai – Season 2 and later Season 3
- The Gentlemen – Seasons 2 and 3
- Ginny & Georgia – Season 4
- The Night Agent – Season 4
- The Lincoln Lawyer – Season 5
- All of Us Are Dead – Season 2
- Beauty in Black – Season 3
- The Diplomat – Season 4
- Love Is Blind – Season 11
Renewal information can change over time, so a show being renewed does not automatically mean that its next season will arrive immediately.
What Does “Renewed” Mean on Netflix?
This is an important distinction when looking at upcoming seasons.
A series can have several different statuses.
| Status | What It Means |
| Confirmed release date | Netflix has announced a specific release date |
| Confirmed release window | Netflix has announced a month, season or year |
| Renewed | Another season has been ordered, but the release date may not be known |
| In production | Work on the upcoming season is underway |
| TBA | No official release timing has been announced |
| Final season | The upcoming season is expected to conclude the series |
For example, saying that a show is renewed for Season 3 is not the same as saying that Season 3 will arrive in 2027.
This difference is especially important for viewers planning their watchlists.
Why Netflix Release Dates Can Change
Streaming release schedules are not always fixed years in advance.
A series may experience changes because of:
- Production schedules
- Filming requirements
- Post-production work
- Visual effects
- Cast availability
- Story development
- Marketing schedules
- Netflix’s wider programming calendar
For this reason, an expected release year should be treated as a release window rather than a guarantee unless Netflix has officially announced a specific date.
2026 vs 2027 and Beyond: Expected Returning Series Coming to Netflix in 2026 & Beyond
The current Netflix lineup shows a mixture of titles at different stages.
In 2026
Viewers can expect several established franchises to return, including:
- The Diplomat
- The Gentlemen
- Bridgerton
- Stranger Things: Tales From ’85
- Fauda
In 2027
Some major returning projects already have a clearer future, including:
- One Piece Season 3
- Blue Eye Samurai Season 2
Beyond 2027
Several renewed series are still waiting for release information, including:
- Wednesday Season 3
- 3 Body Problem Season 2
- Ginny & Georgia Season 4
- The Night Agent Season 4
- All of Us Are Dead Season 2
This means Netflix’s returning-series calendar extends well beyond one year.
How to Keep Track of Upcoming Netflix Seasons
If you are waiting for a particular show, the easiest approach is to check for three things:
- Renewal announcement – confirms that another season is happening.
- Production update – shows that the upcoming season is moving forward.
- Release announcement – confirms when viewers can actually watch it.
A title appearing on a list of expected Netflix releases does not necessarily mean that Netflix has announced an exact premiere date.

Final Thoughts
Netflix has a substantial lineup of returning series planned for 2026 and beyond. Some shows already have confirmed release dates, while others have only received renewal announcements and are still waiting for their next major update.
The biggest upcoming titles include returning franchises such as Bridgerton, The Diplomat, The Gentlemen, One Piece, Blue Eye Samurai, Wednesday, 3 Body Problem and The Night Agent.
The most important thing to remember is the difference between renewed, expected and confirmed. A renewed series is coming back, but its release date may still be unknown. A confirmed release window gives viewers more information, while an exact date provides the clearest schedule.
As Netflix announces new seasons and updates existing release plans, this list can continue to change. So if you are keeping track of the expected returning series coming to Netflix in 2026 and beyond, it is worth checking back for the latest season announcements, release dates and production updates.
